Chelsea have agreed on personal terms with Jeremy Jacquet

Liam Rosenior’s Chelsea are closing in on the signature of Stade Rennais defensive sensation Jeremy Jacquet.

Chelsea are on the verge of signing yet another youngster with massive potential. According to Santi Aouna, the Blues have reached an agreement on personal terms with Jeremy Jacquet. If they manage to strike a deal with Stade Rennais, the 20-year-old could be seen playing for the London club in the second half of the season.

Jacquet has been a part of the Rennes setup since his childhood days. He came up the ranks at some pace and got promoted to the first team at the start of 2024. He immediately went out on loan to gather some experience at the highest level.

On the back of an impressive year-long spell at Clermont Foot, he finally got integrated into Rennes’ first team. Not only has he established himself as their mainstay, but he has also made a name for himself as one of the best young defenders in all of France.

Chelsea are making moves to sign Jacquet

His impressive rise hasn’t gone unnoticed, and multiple top clubs have been scouting him for months. Chelsea are one of the clubs that are ready to prise him away from Rennes despite the fact that his contract runs until the summer of 2029.

Liam Rosenior seeks more depth at the back, as the Blues have been struggling in defence because of injuries to key stars. Jacquet is certainly an ideal fit for his system and the club’s project. They have been in talks with the 20-year-old for some time and have finally reached an agreement in personal terms.

The French club are willing to sanction his departure, but they are looking at a record figure, breaking all their previous transfer records. They want him to be the biggest sale in their history. As a result, they remain in talks with the Blues, hoping to get a big paycheck for one of their best young players.
