Aston Villa will reportedly compete with Newcastle United in the race to sign 21-year-old Brazilian midfielder Allan Elias from Palmeiras.
According to a report by Spanish outlet AS, Allan Elias is the subject of interest from Aston Villa. The Villans are keen on reinforcing their first-team squad by signing a versatile midfielder in the winter transfer window. So, the 21-year-old Palmeiras prospect has emerged as a target for the West Midlands outfit.
The Premier League high-flyers have submitted an enquiry over a possible move for the South American midfielder. However, Aston Villa will not be alone in the battle for his signature, as Newcastle United and Napoli are also keen on signing the youngster. Meanwhile, the player has an “anti-European clause” worth €100 million in his contract with Palmeiras.
Who is Allan Elias?
Allan Andrade Elias, better known as Allan, is the latest promising prospect to rise in prominence in his homeland. Born in Florianopolis, the 21-year-old spent his formative years in Brazil, starting his youth career at Figueirense before graduating from the youth division at Palmeiras.
The youngster has made over 50 appearances for Palmeiras thus far, chipping in with four goals and six assists. Meanwhile, the young Brazilian playmaker’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs. Premier League outfits, in particular, are interested, with Aston Villa and Newcastle United among the prospective suitors vying for his signature.
Premier League move on the horizon?
Aston Villa’s interest in Allan Elias is understandable. The Villans have been scouring the market for a versatile midfielder heading into the winter transfer window. Unai Emery wants more firepower from players other than Ollie Watkins and Morgan Rogers, and Aston Villa showed interest in Conor Gallagher before he joined Tottenham. The Palmeiras prospect has thus emerged as a viable alternative.
As for Newcastle United, Joe Willock faces an uncertain future at St. James’ Park midway through the winter transfer window, and Joelinton could leave the Tyneside outfit after the 2025/26 season ends. Several candidates have thus emerged on Newcastle United’s wishlist, with the South American midfielder also a viable target.
Aston Villa and Newcastle United have submitted enquiries over a move for the 21-year-old Brazilian midfielder. However, they are behind Napoli in the battle for Allan’s signature after the Partenopei failed with a bid worth €35 million. The youngster has an “anti-European clause” worth €100 million in his contract with Palmeiras, and a deal may not be straightforward.
