Jack Harrison on the verge of sealing loan move to Fiorentina

Leeds United winger Jack Harrison is reportedly on the cusp of completing a loan move to relegation-threatened Serie A club Fiorentina.

According to a report by reputed Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Jack Harrison is the subject of interest from Fiorentina. La Viola will aim to reinforce the offensive unit by signing another versatile attacker in the winter transfer window after landing Tottenham Hotspur outcast Manor Solomon. So, the 29-year-old Leeds United winger has emerged as a target for the relegation-threatened Serie A club.

Fiorentina and Leeds United have struck an agreement for a deal for the Englishman, with the Italian outfit on the cusp of securing his services on loan with a purchase option they can activate in the summer. However, they have yet to receive Harrison’s approval, and “work is underway to resolve the issue of his salary”.

How has Jack Harrison fared at Leeds United?

Jack Harrison has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Leeds United from Manchester City. The Whites initially signed the 29-year-old on loan in July 2018 before completing a permanent move 12 months later. However, the player’s stock has fallen at Elland Road since they suffered relegation from the Premier League in the 2022/23 season.

The English winger subsequently spent two seasons on loan with Everton before returning to Leeds United last summer. However, Harrison has been a backup player for Daniel Farke this term, managing only 443 minutes of game time in 13 appearances thus far for Leeds United. So, it is hardly surprising that he faces an uncertain future at Leeds United, with the West Yorkshire outfit ready to part ways with him in the winter transfer window.

Serie A move on the horizon?

Fiorentina’s interest in Jack Harrison makes sense. The relegation-threatened Serie A club will aim to sign several players in the winter transfer window to avoid dropping to the second division and climb out of the drop zone in the second half of the 2025/26 season. So, they have focused on signing a centre-back (amid links with Radu Dragusin) and bolstering their attack.

While Manor Solomon has already joined Fiorentina, they have also shown interest in other wingers, including Leeds United’s Wilfried Gnonto. Gnonto’s teammate Harrison recently emerged as a target for La Viola, with the Italian outfit striking an agreement with Leeds United over a loan deal with a purchase option to land the English winger.

The Whites have been open to the 29-year-old Englishman’s departure in the winter transfer window, and a loan move to Fiorentina should materialise soon. However, they have yet to receive Harrison’s approval, and “work is underway to resolve the issue of his salary”. It will be interesting to see if the player moves to Stadio Artemio Franchi in the coming days.
