Radu Dragusin pushing for AS Roma move, personal terms agreed

Tottenham Hotspur defender Radu Dragusin is reportedly pushing to join Serie A giants AS Roma in the winter transfer window after agreeing to personal terms.

According to a report by Corriere dello Sport, as relayed by Sport Witness, Radu Dragusin is the subject of interest from AS Roma. The Serie A title hopefuls are keen on bolstering their defensive unit by signing a centre-back in the winter transfer window. So, the 23-year-old Tottenham centre-back has emerged as a target for the Giallorossi.

The latest report has revealed that the Bucharest native is pushing to join AS Roma, with the two parties striking an agreement on personal terms. However, the Italian giants are €5 million apart on Tottenham’s valuation, as the Lilywhites want a purchase option worth €20 million while they are offering €15 million at the end of the loan deal this summer.

How has Radu Dragusin fared at Tottenham?

Radu Dragusin has struggled to make his mark since joining Tottenham Hotspur from Genoa in a deal in €30 million worth January 2024. The player was among the most promising centre-backs in Serie A during his spell with Genoa. However, the 23-year-old has been a peripheral figure for the North London club, with a long-term knee injury also stunting his progress.

Dragusin has managed only 38 appearances thus far for Tottenham, amassing 2,609 minutes of game time. However, the Romanian defender’s stock remains high, and a return to Serie A may be on the cards. AS Roma will be among the prospective suitors vying for the young defender’s signature in the winter transfer window.

Serie A return on the horizon?

AS Roma’s interest in Radu Dragusin is understandable. While Gian Piero Gasperini has several centre-backs in his squad, he wants more options for the central defensive unit to sustain the challenge of competing for the Serie A title in the second half of the 2025/26 season after enduring a topsy-turvy ride in the last few weeks.

Several candidates, including Axel Disasi, have thus emerged on AS Roma’s radar, with Dragusin also a viable target. The latest report has revealed that the out-of-favour Tottenham defender is pushing to join the Giallorossi this month, having struck an agreement on personal terms.

However, while Dragusin has given his approval to a loan switch, AS Roma and Tottenham are €5 million apart on their valuations. While the Lilywhites want a purchase option worth €20 million, the Serie A heavyweights have only offered €15 million. It will be interesting to see if the two clubs can find a common ground on the terms of the deal.
