Rennes defender Jeremy Jacquet has been linked with a move away from the Ligue 1 outfit, and multiple Premier League clubs are interested in him.
As per a report by Football Insider, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Real Madrid are all interested in signing Jeremy Jacquet. They need to add more quality and depth to the defensive unit, and the young defender could prove to be a solid long-term investment for them.
The youngster is considered as one of the best young defensive talents in France right now. Naturally, Rennes will not want to lose him easily. Any club hoping to sign the player will have to pay a premium. According to the report from Football Insider, the defender is likely to cost a substantial amount of money, and it remains to be seen who is willing to pay up.
Pete O’Rourke said, “He’s under contract until 2029, so it would take a huge offer in this transfer window to even make Rennes consider selling him. So I think it’s one of those where Liverpool are monitoring Jacquet, and keeping tabs on him along with all these other top European clubs, but I don’t think anything will happen in January.
“Maybe come the summer, there could be more potential for a move, whether that’s from Liverpool or some of his other suitors, like Chelsea, Arsenal, Real Madrid or Man United.“
Where will Jacquet end up?
Arsenal already have quality defenders at their disposal, and they might not be able to accommodate the 20-year-old in the starting lineup. Joining a club only to sit on the bench will not benefit Jeremy Jacquet, and he needs to carefully choose his next step.
Chelsea and Liverpool have looked vulnerable at the back this season, and they need quality defenders. The young French defender could prove an excellent addition for both clubs, and he could be an upgrade on players like Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiashile, and Joe Gomez.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid are looking to build a formidable squad for the future, and they have their sights on Jacquet. Players like Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba are in the twilight stages of their careers. They need to bring in young defenders with potential, and signing the Frenchman would be ideal for them. It will be interesting to see which of the four clubs can get the deal done.
