West Ham United make approach for Beto amid AS Roma links

West Ham United have enquired about the availability of Beto, although there is big interest from Serie A and Everton’s sister club AS Roma.

According to TEAMtalk, Beto is a player of interest for West Ham United ahead of the January transfer window. The Everton striker has struggled for relevance and could be allowed to leave if the Toffees could get a replacement, although the Hammers face a stern test as Serie A side AS Roma are interested.

Everton and West Ham United have a problem with getting their strikers to score goals this season. Both teams have senior options available at their disposal, but they are struggling for relevance this term, as the Hammers are already planning a change.

West Ham are pushing Niclas Fullkrug towards the exit door as the German attacker is linked with a switch to AC Milan. The Hammers are seeking a replacement, as several names have been mentioned in media reports, including Norwich City star Josh Sargent.

Other names like Endrick, Joshua Zirkzee and Promise David had been linked before, but neither are expected to join the Hammers in January. They are now looking at a new name in Everton’s misfiring 27-year-old centre-forward Beto, with the Toffees considering a sale if they can sign a replacement.

The idea might work out for both sides, but West Ham are facing a big test in the race, as there’s big interest from Serie A. A move back to Italy might be something the 27-year-old Everton attacker might think about, given he has not been very good in the Premier League since joining the Toffees.

Could West Ham sign Beto?

The Hammers could have a chance of signing Beto if they can convince him to stay in England, and in that regard, they are the front-runners. However, the Friedkin Group, which owns Everton, may have different plans, as they are now planning a swap deal with sister club AS Roma for the signing of Beto, with Artem Dovbyk going the other way to England.

AS Roma are indeed interested, as they potentially view Beto as an alternative to top target Zirkzee. It remains to be seen whether the Friedkin Group can work out a deal to sign Beto or whether it will be West Ham who will win the race for the 27-year-old Everton attacker.
