Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly compete with Liverpool to sign 25-year-old French defender Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace next year.
According to an update by Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur, Maxence Lacroix is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilywhites are keen on reinforcing their defensive unit by signing a centre-back next year. So, the 25-year-old Crystal Palace defender has emerged as a target for the North London outfit.
The Frenchman is also a target for Liverpool, with the Premier League champions considering him as an alternative to Marc Guehi, their top target. Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund may also look to sign the Crystal Palace defender next year, with all three European bigwigs closely monitoring his progress at the Premier League club.
Maxence Lacroix and his time at Crystal Palace
Maxence Lacroix has established himself as one of the most reliable defenders in the Premier League since joining Crystal Palace from VfL Wolfsburg in August 2024. The 25-year-old has made considerable progress in the last 12 months, becoming a pivotal figure at the back for the South London outfit.
The French defender has made over 50 appearances thus far for Crystal Palace, chipping in with one goal and two assists. Meanwhile, Lacroix’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. Premier League bigwigs, in particular, are keen on signing the former Wolfsburg defender, with Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur among the prospective suitors vying for his signature.
Move across the Premier League on the cards?
Liverpool’s interest in Maxence Lacroix is understandable. The Reds are scouring the market for a centre-back after failing to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace in the summer transfer window. While the English international remains a target for Liverpool, the Premier League champions face stiff competition from several high-profile clubs, including Tottenham, for his signature.
As for Tottenham Hotspur, the 2024/25 UEFA Europa League winners have been monitoring the 25-year-old Frenchman for a long time. The continued interest makes sense, as they are in a spot of bother over the long-term futures of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven amid Real Madrid’s interest in the duo. So, Lacroix is a viable target for Tottenham,
Apart from Liverpool and Tottenham, Borussia Dortmund will also closely monitor Lacroix’s progress at Crystal Palace. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the French defender.
