Crystal Palace are reportedly bracing themselves for a bid from Liverpool for 25-year-old English international Marc Guehi in the winter transfer window.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Marc Guehi is the subject of interest of Liverpool. The Reds are still keen on signing the Crystal Palace captain after failing to secure his services in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, the Eagles expect the Merseyside outfit to submit a bid to land the English international, with Barcelona and Real Madrid also vying for his signature.
Marc Guehi and his soaring stock
Marc Guehi has seen his stock skyrocket since joining Crystal Palace from Chelsea in July 2021, making significant progress in the last four years. However, the 25-year-old has reached a crossroads in his career after entering the final 12 months of his deal with the South London club. While the Englishman has been instrumental in Crystal Palace’s recent success, he may be ready for a new adventure after coming close to joining Liverpool this past summer.
The English international has made over 150 appearances thus far for Crystal Palace while chipping in with nine goals and four assists. However, Guehi’s contract situation has piqued the attention of several high-profile clubs, with Liverpool, Barcelona, and Real Madrid among the prospective suitors vying for his signature.
A man in demand
Liverpool came close to signing the Crystal Palace captain in the summer transfer window before the deal failed to materialise. The continued interest is understandable, as Giovanni Leoni has picked up a long-term knee injury. Additionally, the Reds are in a spot of bother over Ibrahima Konate’s long-term future due to his contract situation. So, Guehi is a viable target for Crystal Palace, with the Eagles expecting a bid from the Premier League champions for his services.
Meanwhile, Barcelona’s interest in Marc Guehi is understandable. The reigning La Liga champions are considering parting ways with Andreas Christensen and Ronald Araujo, with recent reports linking the latter with Liverpool. So, Guehi is an option worth considering for Barcelona.
As for Real Madrid, David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger are on the wrong side of 30, and Los Blancos must sign at least one long-term replacement for them. So, Guehi is a viable target for Real Madrid, and recent reports have claimed that the 25-year-old Englishman prefers the Spanish giants over Liverpool.
Liverpool’s agreed transfer fee with Crystal Palace was worth £35 million, but a winter deal should be worth less than that. However, while the Eagles are bracing themselves for a bid from the reigning Premier League champions, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the English international.
