Thomas Frank’s Tottenham are plotting a winter window raid on Real Sociedad for their attacking mainstay Brais Mendez.
Tottenham are looking to add more quality to the attacking third in the winter transfer window.. Thomas Frank is looking for a creative player who adds more goals and assists to the mix, and according to a report from Fichajes, the North London club have their eyes set on Brais Mendez.
The Spanish international came up the ranks at Celta Vigo. He made quite a name for himself while playing for their first team before joining the Basque club in the summer of 2022. The 28-year-old has only gone from strength to strength over the last few seasons and has established himself as one of the mainstays.
His consistent performances in La Liga and the Champions League haven’t gone unnoticed. While his contract runs until the summer of 2028, Sociedad are worried about his long-term future amidst interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe.
While there is no shortage of interest in him, Tottenham are believed to be the most serious suitors for his signature. The North London club could make a move for him as early as the winter transfer window.
Thomas Frank has made an impressive start to life at Spurs, but he is not satisfied with the options in the attacking third. With James Maddison sidelined with an injury, he feels the lack of another attacking midfielder. As a result, the former Brentford boss wants to address that issue in the winter window.
Spurs could make a significant offer for Mendez
Mendez is quite high on Spurs wishlist because of his overall abilities and his impressive performances in Spain over the years. The North London club have shown strong interest in him and could table an offer close to €40 million to get a deal over the line.
Tottenham are determined to soon open talks to sign the 28-year-old. Given how important he is to Sergio Francisco’s plans, Sociedad will be reluctant to lose out on him. However, a significant financial offer can certainly tempt them.
While a deal could be done for around €30 million, Spurs have not ruled out the possibility of going up to €40 million to get it over the line. Mendez’s future will certainly be one to watch out for, and it will be interesting to see how negotiations pan out over the next few months.
