Chelsea line up €100 million move for Morgan Rogers, Tottenham retain interest

Morgan Rogers could be a big target for Chelsea in 2026, while Tottenham are also in the mix for the Aston Villa star.

According to Fichajes, Chelsea could make a big push to sign Morgan Rogers next summer, while Tottenham are also expected to compete. Aston Villa would like to build their current team around the 23-year-old, but external factors could determine how much power they have in keeping hold of the England international in the future.

Aston Villa did well last summer to keep hold of key star Morgan Rogers, despite many top clubs showing an interest. The primary concern for the club was PSR issues, which many assumed would force the Birmingham-based club to sell some of their top assets, such as the 23-year-old attacking mainstay.

At the end of the window, Chelsea were prepared to make a move, but there were major concerns about whether the price tag placed on the attacker was feasible for the Blues. The West London outfit ended up fulfilling their attacking midfield requirement with the acquisition of Facundo Buonanotte on loan, but they are still in the mix for Rogers.

Chelsea are expected to return in 2026, and now the report claims they are willing to pay €100 million for Morgan Rogers. Aston Villa have reportedly indicated they want around €115 million or more for their star attacker, and while it may sound high, the Blues have previously shown the knack to invest big in young stars.

The Blues like Rogers a lot, and they will be aware of the big competition that would emerge if Aston Villa indicates their willingness to sell. While the Birmingham-based club will surely want to keep hold of Rogers, their powers to do so would be determined by their ability to qualify for the Champions League, or else, there’s a big risk of selling a few of their top stars to stay in line with PSR regulations.

Chelsea face Tottenham competition for Morgan Rogers

Chelsea are already facing the prospect of competing with fellow London giants Tottenham, who were interested in Rogers. The North Londoners considered the Aston Villa man as an alternative target in the summer after they missed out on Eberechi Eze and Morgan Gibbs-White, and while they signed Xavi Simons, a future move for Rogers is still on their minds, as reported by TEAMtalk.

Spurs are undergoing a change at the executive level, and could bring about a fresh approach towards transfer targets in the future. Hence, there is every chance they would go toe-to-toe with the big-six sides like Chelsea for some of the best players in the market, including Morgan Rogers.
