Leeds United in talks to sign Harry Wilson, fail with opening bid

Leeds United will reportedly look to sign 28-year-old Welsh international Harry Wilson from Fulham in the final hours of the summer transfer window.

According to an update by Sky Sports journalists Dharmesh Sheth, Rob Dorsett, and Zinny Boswell, Harry Wilson is the subject of interest of Leeds United. The Whites are eager to bolster their offensive unit by signing a wide attacker before the summer transfer window closes. So, the 28-year-old Fulham winger has emerged as a target for the newly promoted Premier League club.

The 2024/25 EFL Championship winners are in talks with Fulham over a last-gasp move for the Wrexham-born attacker. However, the reliable Ben Jacobs has revealed that Leeds United offered a loan deal to sign Wilson from Fulham, with the West London outfit turning the bid down.

Harry Wilson and his time with Fulham so far

Harry Wilson has been in and out of the starting lineup since joining Fulham from Liverpool in a deal worth £12 million in July 2021. However, while the 28-year-old has not been a regular for the West London club, he has made his mark in the last four years.

The Welsh international has made 150 appearances thus far for Fulham while chipping in with 25 goals and 38 assists. Meanwhile, despite his sporadic starts, Wilson has been impressive enough to pique the attention of several well-known clubs. Leeds United will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the final hours of the summer transfer window.

Move across the Premier League on the cards?

Leeds United’s interest in Harry Wilson is understandable. The Whites are scouring the market for a versatile attacker in final hours of the summer transfer window. While Facundo Buonanotte was the top target for the newly promoted Premier League club, Chelsea hijacked the move, and they announced the Argentine playmaker’s signing today.

Since then, several candidates, including Bilal El Khannouss, have emerged on Leeds United’s radar, with Wilson also a viable target. The Welshman’s ability to play on the flanks and through the middle makes him an appealing target for Leeds United, and the 2024/25 EFL Championship winners are in talks to secure his services.

However, with Fulham rejecting Leeds United’s opening bid for a loan move, it is unclear if the newly promoted Premier League club will return with an improved offer. Meanwhile, Fulham will aim to end the summer transfer window with offensive reinforcement, with Tyrique George on the cusp of arriving from Chelsea.
