Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray have reportedly identified 28-year-old Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma as their priority for the summer transfer window.
According to an update by Turkish journalist Kali Naci Kucuk via Futbol Arena, Yves Bissoua is the subject of interest from Galatasaray. The Turkish Super Lig champions are keen on signing a holding midfielder before the summer transfer window shuts down. So, the 28-year-old Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has emerged as the priority target for Cimbom.
The Turkish giants are eager to complete a season-long loan deal for the former Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder. On the other hand, Tottenham would prefer a permanent sale, with Bissouma no longer in Thomas Frank’s plans for the 2025/26 season and beyond.
Yves Bissouma and his situation
Yves Bissouma has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Tottenham Hotspur from Brighton & Hove Albion in a deal worth £25 million in July 2022. While the 28-year-old midfielder has shown flashes of brilliance in the last three years, he has no future at the North London club after rubbing Thomas Frank the wrong way due to his disciplinary indiscretions.
The Malian international has turned out 100 times thus far for Tottenham while chipping in with one goal. However, with Bissouma having no future at the North London club, the situation has piqued the attention of several high-profile clubs. Galatasaray will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the final days of the summer transfer window.
Turkish adventure awaits?
Galatasaray’s interest in Yves Bissouma is understandable. The Turkish Super Lig champions are scouring the market for a midfielder this summer, as Mario Lemina is on the wrong side of 30. So, Bissouma has emerged as a viable target, with recent reports claiming Galatasaray will soon establish contact over a summer move.
The latest update has revealed that Bissouma is Galatasaray’s priority target for the remainder of the summer transfer window. However, the Turkish giants and Tottenham differ on the preferred structure for a deal; the Lilywhites want to offload the former Brighton & Hove midfielder on a permanent exit, while Galatasaray would prefer a loan move.
So, protracted negotiations between Tottenham and Galatasaray may be on the cards once the two clubs sit down for talks in the coming days. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the 28-year-old Malian international.
