Leandro Trossard to sign new Arsenal deal amid Inter Milan links

Inter Milan reportedly wanted to sign 30-year-old Belgian international Leandro Trossard from Arsenal in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by James McNicholas on The Athletic, Leandro Trossard is on the cusp of signing a new contract with Arsenal. The experienced and versatile attacker’s deal will not extend the terms beyond the current expiration of 2027 but instead adjust his salary, which will improve. That will likely end speculation surrounding the Belgian international’s long-term future at the Emirates.

So, the update has dealt a blow to Inter Milan, with a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football revealing that Inter Milan wanted to sign the Waterschei native from Arsenal in the summer transfer window. The Nerazzurri contacted the Gunners to discuss a deal for Trossard, who has now committed to a new contract at the Emirates.

Leandro Trossard and his Arsenal career so far

Leandro Trossard has been a dependable performer since joining Arsenal from Brighton & Hove Albion in a deal worth £27 million in January 2023. While the 30-year-old has not been an undisputed first-choice starter for the North London club, he has been a reliable backup attacker for Mikel Arteta in the last two and a half years.

The Belgian international proved his credentials in the 2024/25 season by amassing ten goals and ten assists in 56 appearances across all competitions. However, Trossard has faced an uncertain future at Arsenal, with widespread reports linking him with European clubs and Saudi Pro League outfits. That may not materialise after the latest update, even though Inter Milan wanted to sign him.

What next?

Inter Milan’s interest in Leandro Trossard is understandable. The Serie A giants are scouring the market for a versatile attacker as they aim to reshuffle their offensive unit in the summer transfer window. With Mehdi Taremi facing an uncertain future at San Siro, Inter Milan must sign a long-term replacement, with Trossard emerging as a viable target.

Recent reports have suggested that the Gunners are ready to cash in on the former Brighton & Hove Albion attacker in the summer transfer window. However, that will not materialise, with the player agreeing to sign a new contract, with the deal including an improved salary.

While the duration of the contract will not increase, Trossard will receive new bumper wages. So, Inter Milan must look elsewhere for a new attacker, with the 30-year-old Belgian international not going anywhere.
