Leeds United considering Ermedin Demirovic swoop

Leeds United will reportedly look to sign 34-cap Bosnia and Herzegovina international Ermedin Demirovic from VfB Stuttgart in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by German outlet Kicker, Ermedin Demirovic is the subject of interest from Leeds United. The Whites are surprisingly keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing another striker in the summer transfer window despite completing a Bosman move for Dominic Calvert-Lewin this week.

So, the VfB Stuttgart centre-forward has emerged as a target for the newly promoted Premier League club. However, the Bosnian striker will not come cheap, with the Bundesliga outfit demanding around €40 million to part ways with him in the summer transfer window.

Ermedin Demirovic and his Bundesliga adventure

Ermedin Demirovic has become a household name for Bundesliga fans in the last half a decade. The 27-year-old spent his formative years in Germany and returned to the country in August 2020 when SC Freiburg signed him from Deportivo Alaves. Since then, the Hamburg native has represented FC Augsburg and VfB Stuttgart, joining the Swabians 12 months ago.

The 34-cap Bosnia and Herzegovina international has amassed 17 goals and six assists in nearly 50 appearances thus far for Stuttgart. Meanwhile, Demirovic’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs. Leeds United will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

Premier League move on the horizon?

Leeds United’s interest in Ermedin Demirovic is perplexing. The Whites have been busy in the market during the summer transfer window as they prepare for the daunting challenge of remaining in the Premier League beyond the 2025/26 season. So, they have bolstered every department, signing two strikers in bargain deals.

While the 2024/25 EFL Championship winners have sanctioned a season-long loan to RCD Mallorca for Mateo Joseph and are ready to part ways with Patrick Bamford in the ongoing transfer window, Daniel Farke already has three strikers in his squad. Nevertheless, Leeds United will pursue Demirovic’s signature this summer, with VfB Stuttgart demanding around €40 million to part ways with the 27-year-old Bosnian striker.

The Bundesliga club’s asking price makes the 34-cap Bosnia and Herzegovina international a challenging target for Leeds United. It will be interesting to see if the Whites are ready to fork out €40 million to sign Demirovic from Stuttgart in the summer transfer window.
