According to a report by Give Me Sport, Jacob Ramsey is the subject of interest from West Ham United. The Hammers are eager to bolster their first-team squad by signing a versatile midfielder in the summer transfer window. So, the 24-year-old Aston Villa utility man has emerged as a target for the East London outfit.
The Hammers have intensified their efforts to sign the Englishman in the summer transfer window. In addition, Ramsey is a target for Tottenham Hotspur. However, the homegrown utility man is keen on remaining with Aston Villa for the long haul despite the competition for places at the West Midlands club.
Jacob Ramsey and his career so far
Jacob Ramsey has endured a topsy-turvy ride since breaking into the first-team squad at Aston Villa. The 24-year-old has made considerable progress in the last few seasons while being impressive due to his ability to reprise multiple roles for the midfield and offensive unit. However, he has been in and out of the starting lineup under Unai Emery.
The English midfielder has turned out over 150 times thus far for Aston Villa while chipping in with 17 goals and 19 assists. Meanwhile, despite not being a regular starter for the Villans, Ramsey’s stock in the market is high, with several Premier League bigwigs keen on signing him. Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.
Move across the Premier League on the cards?
Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Jacob Ramsey is understandable. The Lilywhites are scouring the market for a versatile midfielder this summer as Thomas Frank looks for players who can reprise multiple roles for his team. So, the Aston Villa utility man has emerged as a viable target for Tottenham.
As for West Ham United, Carlos Soler has returned to Paris Saint-Germain after a dreadful loan stint in the 2024/25 season. In addition, Lucas Paqueta faces an uncertain future at the London Stadium, with Guido Rodriguez, Edson Alvarez, Tomas Soucek, and James Ward-Prowse also on the chopping block. So, Ramsey is a viable target, with West Ham upping the ante to sign the 24-year-old Englishman.
However, Ramsey has no interest in leaving Aston Villa in the summer transfer window, thus dealing a blow to West Ham and Tottenham’s prospects. In addition, convincing Aston Villa to sell the English midfielder would have been a tall order, as Unai Emery reportedly wants to keep him at Villa Park.
