Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to lower their asking price as they look to offload Son Heung-min ahead of next season.
Son Heung-min might be living his final weeks at Tottenham amidst interest from Major League Soccer club Los Angeles FC. According to a report from Give Me Sport, the North London club are ready to lower their demands to facilitate their skipper’s move to America.
Son made a name for himself at Bayer Leverkusen before joining Spurs back in 2015. Over the last 10 years, he has been involved in 454 games and has contributed towards 274 goals (173 goals, 101 assists).
While the North London club found it quite difficult during the 2024/25 season, the 33-year-old was still one of their standout performers with 11 goals and 12 assists. He even led them to their first major title in 17 years as they won the Europa League.
With Son Heung-min’s contract at Spurs running out, the club decided to trigger the option to extend it by another 12 months. However, the South Korean international could still end up parting ways with them this summer.
Thomas Frank is looking to reinforce his attack and has already added Kota Takai and Mohammed Kudus to his team. Tottenham are optimistic about completing the signing of Morgan Gibbs-White as well. Following these acquisitions, Son might no longer have a prominent role in the team.
Spurs are ready to sell Son for just £15-20 million
As a result, the North London club are ready to sanction Son Heung-min’s departure if he is willing to move on. They initially set an asking price of around £35 million for their skipper as they anticipated interest from the Middle East.
While Saudi Pro League clubs are interested in signing him, the South Korean is not keen on a move there. As a result, Spurs are willing to lower their demands and facilitate his desired transfer out of respect for all he has done for the club.
Los Angeles FC are keen on securing his signature, having identified Son as a marquee signing. The American outfit have been in talks to bring him in, with negotiations slowly progressing since early June. Following these discussions and given all the 33-year-old has contributed, the North London club are prepared to sanction his departure for a fee in the region of £15-20 million.
