Florian Wirtz will cost a club-record fee for the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool in the summer, as the attacking midfielder appears ready to leave Bayer Leverkusen.
According to Caught Offside, Florian Wirtz is expected to be the subject of big interest from some of the top clubs around the continent. The Bayer Leverkusen star is reportedly ready for a new challenge in the summer, as the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool, must pay a club-record fee to secure the German international.
Florian Wortz was expected to make his move from Bayer Leverkusen to another big club at one stage, and that might be in the summer. After winning the Bundesliga title last season under the leadership of Xabi Alonso, the Spanish manager’s decision to prolong his stay at the BayArena may have influenced the playmaker to continue too.
However, with Alonso linked with a move to Real Madrid, there’s a big chance Wirtz will follow him out of the club and potentially even to the Santiago Bernabeu. The Spanish giants are indeed linked with a move for the attacker, with the report stating they could consider the 15-goal target as a potential replacement for Vinicius Junior if he ends up joining a Saudi Arabia club.
There are some big suitors from the Premier League, with Manchester City seen as one of the frontrunners and serious contenders for the German. Pep Guardiola has reportedly identified Wirtz as a potential replacement for either Jack Grealish or Kevin De Bruyne, with the latter now confirmed to end his spell with the club once the season ends.
Other reports from elsewhere have strongly pointed out that Wirtz might prefer a move to Bayern Munich, with the Bavarians certainly seen as one of the top contenders for his signature. However, there’s credible interest from the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool, with either Premier League giants likely to make a serious effort to sign the attacking midfielder
Florian Wirtz will cost €120-130 million
For the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool to have a chance to sign the German international, they must pay a club-record offer for Wirtz in the summer. As per the report, the Leverkusen star might cost around €120-130 million, which may not deter those English sides.
Liverpool are in the market for a different profile of an attacker with Wirtz likely seen as a top option by Arne Slot. Meanwhile, the Gunners are eager to add more firepower and bring in a different option to Martin Odegaard, with the two players seen in a similar vein. It remains to be seen where the German might end up joining, as there are plenty of high-profile options keen to sign him in the summer.
