A trio of London giants are willing to trigger Matheus Cunha’s release clause, with Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur in the mix.
According to Fichajes, Matheus Cunha could have a host of options to leave Wolves in the summer, as London could be his next destination. Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur are ready to trigger his £62 million release clause, as the Brazilian looks set for a new challenge next season.
Matheus Cunha’s future at Wolves was a big talking point around January when reports were stating the Brazilian was ready to move on. The Midlands club were not pleased with the prospect of letting their most important attacker leave in the middle of the season despite the pressures of the big club.
Cunha finally signed the contract he had been stalling on, although the new deal came with a release clause worth a reported £62 million or slightly higher. There is no reduction in the fee should Wolves suffer relegation, as the Brazilian, who has contributed to 18 goals this season, seems destined to make a move out of Molineux.
A trio of London giants, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham, are open to triggering Cunha’s release clause, while there are others, like Manchester United, who are also willing to sign the forward. The Brazilian has already proved he can operate at the highest levels of the Premier League, which does make him. It looks like a perfect addition to either of those big sides.
Tottenham are willing to pay the release clause, as Ange Postecoglou wants to add quality players ahead of next season to make this team competitive. Spurs are a good destination for any top player. However, their quest to sign Matheus Cunha will prove challenging given the level of competition for the Brazilian attacker.
Arsenal and Chelsea are in the mix for Cunha
Arsenal were heavily interested in January as Matheus Cunha was reportedly open to joining the north Londoners last month. Mikel Arteta is ready to invest in a top-rated centre-forward and views the Wolves man as one of the top candidates to come into the team, although they have other targets in mind.
Chelsea were also interested alongside Arsenal in January, with the Blues looking to add a new centre-forward in the summer. The Stamford Bridge outfit do have the capacity to pay big for a new striker, as Cunha’s reputation could make him one of their top targets in the summer window.
