Barcelona have added Dean Huijsen to their list of centre-back targets ahead of the summer, as Real Madrid and Liverpool are also in the mix.
According to Fichajes, Barcelona are ready to rival some top contenders for the signature of Dean Huijsen in the summer. The Bournemouth centre-back has had an impressive first season with the Cherries, which has triggered the Catalans’ interest, as Liverpool and Real Madrid are also keen.
Dean Huijsen was considered a player with a big future when Bournemouth took their chances by signing the young Dutchman from Juventus last summer. Little did they envisage that the 19-year-old Premier League prodigy would become a top-rated centre-back in six months’ time, as he already has prominent suitors lining up for a move in the upcoming summer window.
Dean Huijsen reportedly has a £55 million release clause in his contract that will be active in the summer window of 2025. There are some big clubs already making their intentions clear, including Real Madrid and Liverpool, while Barcelona have entered the race in a big way.
Barcelona are expecting some changes to their backline in the summer, including the departures of Andreas Christensen and Ronald Araujo despite the latter signing a new deal. Should a big offer come for both, they might sell, and the Blaugrana now view the 19-year-old Premier League prodigy Huijsen as a perfect addition to their backline.
The questions will be surrounding whether Barcelona have the funds to match the release clause in Huijsen’s contract. Their project might be perfect for the Dutchman, as this is an evolving team under Hansi Flick with the right mix of young and experienced stars, and the Bournemouth man could thrive here. However, Barcelona may have to act fast as rivals are waiting in the wing to sign the defender.
Liverpool and Real Madrid are interested in Huijsen
Liverpool have identified Huijsen as a top target ahead of the summer, although he may not be the first name on their list. Arne Slot is nonetheless pushing to sign the Dutchman next summer, regardless of whether they end up losing Virgil van Dijk.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid have held an interest in Huijsen as they are on the lookout for a top-rated young centre-back to add to their squad. Huijsen is reportedly open to joining them, as per some reports. However, he may not be the first name on their list, which already comprises talents like Arsenal’s William Saliba, who may cost way more than the Dutchman’s release clause.
