Raheem Sterling set for Chelsea return this summer

Arsenal are set to part ways with Raheem Sterling in the summer, with the experienced Elgnish winger set to return to Chelsea.

According to The Mirror, Raheem Sterlins is set to return to Chelsea in the summer when his Arsenal loan ends. The experienced English winger has not impressed during his short spell in north London, and Mikel Arteta eyes a big summer window ahead.

Arsenal signed Raheem Sterling on the deadline. The player was seen as an opportunity at the time, as Arsenal needed another body in the attacking setup. While many had hoped the on-loan Chelsea winger would kick into gear, Sterling has been a disappointment so far.

Arteta has not trusted him in the main plans this season, which has rendered the experienced winger more of a secondary role in the squad. Arsenal decided against cancelling his loan ahead of January, as there were reports they were keen on signing another Premier League player on loan.

However, with injuries mounting up in the attacking areas, Sterling’s presence might come to use, as Arteta could use him until Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli return from their fitness issues. However, there’s no case for Sterling to stay at Arsenal beyond the current season as he is set for a return to his parent club, Chelsea, as his future will be decided then.

Arsenal are in the market for a wide attacker as well as a key striker to bolster their attacking ranks in the summer. They had similar needs back in January, but chose to pass some opportunities and focus on strenghthening their squad during the summer window.

Arsenal target a new wide attacker

The Gunners reportedly failed with a bid for Ferran Torres, which signalled their intentions during the January window. In any case, they will return to the market in the summer, with names like Antoine Semenyo, Bryan Mbuemo, and Nico Williams linked ahead of next summer.

Karim Adeyemi is another name on their list, which shows how serious the Gunners are about building their attacking setup ahead of the summer. A striker remains a priority signing for Arteta, as some significant additions are expected in the close season.
