Predicted Manchester United lineup against Crystal Palace: Ugarte, Amad to return; Onana in goal

Andre Onana, Amad Diallo, and Manuel Ugarte will return to the Manchester United starting lineup against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Manchester United will aim to get closer to the top half of the Premier League table when they welcome Crystal Palace to Old Trafford on Sunday. Ruben Amorim has no new injury concerns hampering his preparations ahead of his side’s latest fixture.

Luke Shaw continues to make progress after resuming training earlier this week. However, Sunday’s game has come too soon for the English international. Meanwhile, Jonny Evans (muscle) and Mason Mount (hamstring) remain on the sidelines.

Marcus Rashford is on the verge of joining Aston Villa on loan for the remainder of the 2024/25 season, while Tyrell Malacia will likely depart in the next 36 hours. So, neither player should be in the matchday squad on Sunday. Meanwhile, during his pre-match press conference, Amorim provided a fitness update on Luke Shaw.

The Manchester United manager said, “It can take a little bit more time. I think he needs to train more, to spend more time with his team-mates playing even like normal, small-sided games, not just working alone.”

“He stayed there [at Carrington] to make a different type of work, he’s going to get together with the team when we arrive and start from there. When I feel it is the right moment, we will start with some minutes in the games.”

With Shaw unavailable and Malacia closing in on leaving Manchester United on loan, Noussair Mazraoui will start as the left wing-back, with Diogo Dalot taking his place on the right flank. Andre Onana will replace Altay Bayindir between the sticks, with the home side lining up in a 3-4-2-1 formation in front of him against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

The central defensive unit should feature Matthijs de Ligt, Harry Maguire, and Lisandro Martinez. As for the midfield unit, Bruno Fernandes should reprise a deeper role alongside Manuel Ugarte, with Kobbie Mainoo playing in the more advanced spot again. Finally, Rasmus Hojlund will lead the line for the Red Devils against Crystal Palace, with Amad Diallo completing the numbers in the attack.

Predicted Manchester United XI: Onana; De Ligt, Maguire, Martinez; Dalot, Ugarte, Bruno Fernandes, Mazraoui; Amad, Mainoo; Hojlund
