Serie A giants AC Milan have reached an agreement with Manchester City to sign their veteran defender Kyle Walker on loan.
According to a report from Calciomercato, Kyle Walker is all set to make the move to AC Milan. The Serie A giants have reached an agreement with Manchester City to sign him on a temporary basis. The English international is expected to be in Italy on Thursday for his medical at his new club.
After making a name for himself at Tottenham, Walker made the move to Manchester City in the summer of 2017. He went from strength to strength after joining Pep Guardiola’s team and was a key figure in all the success they have had in recent seasons.
Walker’s desire to try a new challenge
At 34, the English full-back is still going strong and remains an important first-team player. But, he has been keen on trying a new challenge away from Manchester City. Walker informed the club about his desire to part ways at the start of the window, and they have decided to respect his decision despite him having around 18 months on his current deal.
With the former Tottenham star available mid-season, multiple clubs registered their interest in him. But, it seems AC Milan have managed to beat the competition to his signature. The Serie A giants want more experience at the back, and they feel Walker’s ability to feature out wide as well as in a central role could do wonders for them.
The Englishman had already approved the move, expressing his desire to play for AC Milan. After securing an agreement with Walker, the Rossoneri have been in negotiations with Manchester City, and they have finally managed to strike a deal.
AC Milan have agreed terms with Manchester City
The deal has been finalised, and the player is expected to be in Italy today to complete the move. He will undergo a medical post which he will put pen to paper to make the loan deal official. AC Milan will not be paying anything for the loan deal, but they will have to fork out around €5 million if they want to make the move permanent in the summer.
Walker has agreed to a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Serie A giants that runs until the summer of 2027. He will be earning €4 million net per season. While Milan have agreed a deal for the 34-year-old and he is all set to undergo his medical, they still need to make room for him in the squad.
The potential departure of Emerson Royal could help their cause amid the Brazilian’s links with Everton and Fulham. But, if there are no exits in the next ten days, someone will have to be removed from their Serie A and the Champions League squad.
