Real Madrid have reportedly joined in the race for Ousmane Diomande and are ready to rival some of the top Premier League clubs.
According to Fichajes, Real Madrid entered the Ousmane Diomande race ahead of this month’s window. The Spanish giants are eager to strengthen their backline with a young defender, with Sporting CP ready to entertain opening bids worth around €60 million, as Premier League clubs are also chasing the Ivorian.
Ousmane Diomande has not had the best times at Sporting CP over the last 12 months. There have been plenty of inconsistencies in his game, and despite that, he continues to attract significant interest from some of the biggest clubs across England.
Arsenal and Chelsea are among those vying for Diomande, while there’s interest from Manchester Untied in the defender. Ruben Amorim likes the centre-back following their time together at Sporting CP, as the Red Devils could approach if the conditions are suitable.
Chelsea are the front runners in the hunt, although Arsenal could give them a tough fight given the north Londoners have kept tabs on him for a long time. Real Madrid has entered the conversation for the defender, as Sporting CP could await opening offers of around €60 million. The Portuguese side would ideally strategise to push their asking price to €80 million, although they might reluctantly agree to sell him for €60 million.
Real Madrid are eager to bring one of the most talented young defenders in the continent, as they are keen to add new faces to their backline. Their central defenders are all into their thirties, as some previous links to William Saliba show the Spanish giants are looking to refresh their backline summer by summer.
Will Real Madrid land Ousmane Diomande?
Diomande might have had a problematic and inconsistent period at Sporting CP, yet he continues to be considered a top target by big clubs. A move to the Premier League has been long mooted about, although the interest from Real Madrid might turn his head towards Spain.
Real Madrid have the most significant pull in the transfer market, and should they get serious about Diomande, there’s hardly any club likely to come their way. Much will depend on how their competitors react, as the Spanish giants are unlikely to get into a bidding war or pay over the odds for the €60 million-rated defender.
