Rayan Cherki offered to Tottenham after Randal Kolo Muani miss

Intermediaries have reportedly offered Tottenham Hotspur the chance to sign 21-year-old French attacker Rayan Cherki from beleaguered Ligue 1 club Lyon.

According to a report by Give Me Sport, Tottenham Hotspur will have the chance to sign Rayan Cherki in the winter transfer window. The Lilywhites were keen on landing Randal Kolo Muani from Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain. However, the 2022 FIFA World Cup finalist is on the verge of joining Juventus, forcing the London club to look elsewhere for winter reinforcement.

The rise and rise of Rayan Cherki

Rayan Cherki has been one of the best young prospects in Ligue 1 for several years. A native of Lyon, the Frenchman spent his formative years in his hometown, graduating from the youth division at Olympique Lyonnais. He broke into the first-team squad as a 16-year-old in the 2019/20 season and has been a regular for Les Gones since then.

The 21-year-old has turned out over 150 times thus far for Lyon while chipping in with 22 goals and 33 assists. However, Cherki’s long-term future at the beleaguered Ligue 1 club is uncertain due to Les Gones’ financial issues, which have earned them provision relegation from the top flight.

So, Lyon must sell players to balance the books and avoid relegation from Ligue 1. The situation has piqued the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. Premier League bigwigs, in particular, are keen on signing the French attacking prospect, with intermediaries offering Tottenham Hotspur the opportunity to secure his services.

London calling?

Tottenham can do with a versatile attacker like Rayan Cherki. The Lilywhites have been scouring the market for a new forward heading into the winter transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding Richarlison’s long-term future. The Brazilian international is reportedly ready to embark on a new adventure.

So, Tottenham must sign a new attacker, and Randal Kolo Muani was the top target for the North London club. However, the Paris Saint-Germain outcast is on the verge of joining Juventus, forcing Tottenham to look for alternatives. Cherki is thus an option worth considering.

Intermediaries have also offered Jonathan David and Evann Guessand to Tottenham. So, it will be interesting to see who becomes the North London club’s top alternative to Kolo Muani as they go back to the drawing board.
