Manchester United reject Napoli bid for Alejandro Garnacho

Manchester United have reportedly knocked back a bid worth £40 million from Serie A club Napoli for 20-year-old Argentine international Alejandro Garnacho.

According to a report by Daily Mirror, Alejandro Garnacho is the subject of interest from Napoli. The Serie A giants have already submitted a bid to sign the Manchester United whizkid, offering £40 million to secure his services. However, the Red Devils have turned down the proposal from the Partenopei.

The rise of Alejandro Garnacho at Manchester United

Alejandro Garnacho has endured a topsy-turvy ride since breaking into the first-team squad at Manchester United. While the Madrid-born attacker has shown flashes of brilliance, he has also been prone to dreadful performances in the last two and a half years.

The 20-year-old whizkid enjoyed his Manchester United breakthrough in Erik ten Hag’s debut season at Manchester United. Since then, Garnacho has been a regular in the final third for the Premier League club, turning out over 100 times thus far while chipping in with 23 goals and 14 assists.

However, the last few weeks have witnessed rising speculation surrounding the Argentine international, whose long-term future at Manchester United is uncertain. The situation has piqued the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe, with Napoli among his prospective suitors for the winter transfer window.

Serie A adventure beckoning?

Napoli’s interest in Alejandro Garnacho makes sense. Antonio Conte is driving the Italian club’s move for the Manchester United whizkid as he scours the market for a long-term replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. With the Georgian international closing in on joining Paris Saint-Germain, the Serie A giants need someone to take his spot.

So, Garnacho has emerged as a viable target for Napoli, with the Serie A giants securing an agreement in principle with the Manchester United whizkid. However, they still need to convince Manchester United to part ways with the highly-rated attacker. Napoli’s initial bid has arrived, with the Partenopei submitting a bid worth £40 million to secure his services.

However, the Red Devils have knocked back Napoli’s proposal, with the Premier League club demanding around £60 million to sell him. So, the offer worth £40 million is nowhere close to Manchester United’s valuation, and it will be interesting to see if the Serie A giants return with an improved bid.
