Chelsea have made an approach for Bayern Munich attacker Mathys Tel, with the Frenchman struggling for game time at the Bundesliga giants.
According to The Guardian, Chelsea have made an approach for Mathys Tel with a view of making a move this month. The Blues are on the lookout to add another attacker to their system, with the Frenchman seen as an ideal candidate due to his versatility and the probability of being available in this window.
Chelsea surprised a few when they failed to add a striker to compete with Nicolas Jackson back in the summer. There were extensive talks with Victor Osimhen’s camp, but eventually, they could not agree on a deal. Given how the club have operated of late in the market, it is clear that the Blues are not intent on adding a player with high wages and would instead prefer younger stars.
Hence, their interest in Liam Delap comes as no surprise, with the Ipswich Town forward performing well this season and could be the subject of a bid next summer. Evan Ferguson is another name that fits the criteria of a young forward with loads of potential to become a future star as well as being on low wages. Chelsea are now interested in Bayern Munich’s 19-year-old versatile attacker Mathys Tel.
The Frenchman has shown plenty of promise with the Bavarians but continues to lack the necessary game time to play regularly. Chelsea was interested back in the summer and could now explore the idea of bringing the 19-year-old versatile attacker this month to Stamford Bridge.
Mathys Tel has been struggling for game time and is unable to break into Vincent Kompany’s side this season. With two starts in his seven appearances so far, the 19-year-old versatile attacker has only accumulated just over 200 minutes, which could force his hand if Chelsea come in with a serious enough offer to tempt him.
Bayern Munich could ask for Christopher Nkunku in the Tel deal
Bayern Munich could open their doors for Chelsea to take Mathys Tel, especially if they can find a way to get Christopher Nkunku to Munich. The Bavarians are interested in the Blues attacker, as there is a possibility of an exchange deal in the making.
Various reports have suggested any deal for Nkunku might be a separate operaton, as the Frenchman wants to quit Chelsea after being reduced to a subdued role in Enzo Maresca’s side. In any case, there is a big possibility for the two clubs to engage in fruitful conversation regarding the two players, as there is a deal to be made.
