Arsenal might turn to William Saliba’s agent to sign 22-year-old French youth international Lucien Agoume from La Liga club Sevilla, with the duo sharing the same representative.
According to a report by French outlet Foot Mercato, Lucien Agoume is the subject of interest from Arsenal. The Gunners are scouring the market for a midfielder ahead of the two transfer windows next year. So, the Sevilla prospect has emerged as a target for the North London club, and they might approach William Saliba’s agent for help regarding a move for the 22-year-old.
Lucien Agoume and his long journey so far
Lucien Agoume has seen his stock soar since joining Sevilla from Inter Milan. Eligible to represent France and the country of his birth, Cameroon, the youngster has turned out for the former in age-group football thus far. Meanwhile, he graduated from the youth division at FC Sochaux before Inter Milan signed him in July 2019.
The 22-year-old subsequently embarked on multiple loan spells before the stint with Sevilla yielded the desired results. Los Nevionenses initially signed Agoume on a deal until the end of the 2023/24 season before completing a permanent move in the summer transfer window.
The youngster has already turned out 31 times thus far for Sevilla while establishing himself as one of the best young midfield prospects in La Liga in the last 12 months. Meanwhile, the French youth international’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe, including Arsenal.
Premier League adventure on the horizon?
Arsenal’s interest in Lucien Agoume is understandable. The Gunners are scouring the market for a midfielder amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term futures of Thomas Partey and Jorginho. The two experienced midfielders are on the wrong side of 30 and approaching the end of their contracts.
In addition, Fabio Vieira faces an uncertain future at the Emirates, compelling Arsenal to pursue a midfielder. So, Agoume has emerged as a viable target, although the Gunners are yet to decide if they will launch the offensive to sign him anytime soon. However, the North London club might turn to William Saliba’s agent to land the French youth international.
Agoume and Saliba share the same representative, and Arsenal might derive the advantage due to the situation. It will be interesting to see if that helps the North London outfit beat the competition to land the 22-year-old Sevilla midfield prospect.
