Marcus Rashford prioritising Barcelona move

Out-of-favour Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is reportedly prioritising joining Barcelona when he leaves the Red Devils.

According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Marcus Rashford is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The Catalan giants are scouring the market for an offensive reinforcement, with the beleaguered Manchester United attacker emerging as a target. The 27-year-old has boosted the club’s prospects, as he wants to join the Blaugrana next year.

Marcus Rashford and a spiralling career

Marcus Rashford must identify his next destination carefully after becoming “personal non grata” at Manchester United. The Englishman’s story at his boyhood club has soured in no time, even though his performance levels have faltered since the start of the 2023/24 season.

While Rashford improved in the first few months of the 2024/25 season, including a brace in the recent 4-0 win over Everton, he could not win over Ruben Amorim. The 27-year-old has raked in seven goals and three assists in 24 appearances across all competitions thus far this term.

However, the English international has not been in the matchday squad in Manchester United’s last three games, with the exclusion leading to widespread speculation surrounding his future. A few reports have also suggested that his “lifestyle issues” might have prompted Manchester United’s decision to sideline him. Meanwhile, Rashford does not have a shortage of suitors, with Barcelona among the clubs keen on signing him.

La Liga move on the horizon?

Barcelona’s interest in Marcus Rashford is understandable. The Catalan giants are keen on reinforcing their offensive department in the January transfer window amid the growing over-dependence on Lamine Yamal and Raphinha. So, the Manchester United outcast has emerged as a target for Barcelona, although they can only afford a loan move for the player.

The latest update has boosted Barcelona’s prospects, with Rashford prioritising joining the Catalan outfit when he leaves Manchester United next year. Meanwhile, recent reports have claimed that the Red Devils are open to a loan exit for the Englishman.

It will be interesting to see if Rashford gets his desired move to Barcelona in the January transfer window. The Catalan giants will hope to complete a loan deal for the 27-year-old English international amid his faltering stock at Manchester United.
