Intermediaries have reportedly offered Tottenham Hotspur the opportunity to sign 25-year-old Crystal Palace full-back Tyrick Mitchell, a target for Barcelona.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Tyrick Mitchell is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The Catalan giants are scouring the market for a left-back and have set their sights on the Crystal Palace full-back. However, intermediaries have offered the English international to Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur.
The rise and rise of Tyrick Mitchell
Tyrick Mitchell has established himself as one of the best full-backs in the Premier League since breaking into the first-team squad at Crystal Palace. A native of the Englishman spent his formative years in his home city, passing through the academies at Pinner Albion, AFC Wembley, and Brentford before landing at Crystal Palace.
The 25-year-old made his first-team bow at Crystal Palace towards the end of the 2019/20 season, and he has been a mainstay at the back for the South London club since the 2021/22 campaign. Mitchell has turned out over 150 times thus far for the Eagles while chipping in with three goals and 11 assists.
Meanwhile, Mitchell’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. The English full-back is a target for Barcelona, while intermediaries have offered his services to Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur.
A big move on the horizon?
Barcelona’s interest in Tyrick Mitchell is understandable. The Catalan giants are scouring the market for a left-back ahead of the two transfer windows next year. While Alejandro Balde has been excellent for Barcelona, Hansi Flick wants a top-notch alternative to the Spanish international. So, the Crystal Palace full-back is a viable target for Barcelona.
As for Tottenham Hotspur, the North London outfit will likely dip into the market for a left-back next year. Ben Davies has entered the final seven months of his contract and will likely leave Tottenham as a free agent next summer. So, Postecoglou needs another left-back, with Destiny Udogie the only recognised option for the position.
Mitchell can be a viable target for Tottenham, considering he will enter the final six months of his contract in January. However, the North London outfit will bear a risk, as Barcelona can secure a pre-contract agreement with the 25-year-old English international.
