Barcelona considering Hugo Bueno swoop

La Liga heavyweights Barcelona are reportedly mulling over a 2025 summer transfer window move for 22-year-old Spanish full-back Hugo Bueno.

According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Hugo Bueno is the subject of interest from FC Barcelona. The Catalan giants are scouring the market for a left-back heading into the 2025 summer transfer window. So, the Spanish full-back has emerged as a target for the Blaugrana, with several other targets featuring on the wishlist.

Who is Hugo Bueno?

Hugo Bueno has made considerable progress since joining Feyenoord on loan from Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer transfer window. A native of Vigo, the Spaniard spent most of his formative years in his homeland but graduated from the youth division at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 22-year-old broke into the first-team squad at the Premier League club in the early months of the 2022/23 season and was a regular for the Black Country outfit for two campaigns. However, Bueno’s stock started dropping last term, and Wolverhampton Wanderers loaned him to Feyenoord in August 2024.

The Spanish full-back has struggled with some fitness issues in the last few months but has been a regular for Feyenoord when available. Bueno has amassed nearly 1,000 minutes of game time across 13 appearances in all competitions thus far, chipping in with three assists. Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of a few well-known clubs, including Barcelona.

Will Bueno return to Spain soon?

Barcelona’s interest in Hugo Bueno is understandable. The Catalan giants are scouring the market for a left-back heading into the 2025 summer transfer window. While Alejandro Balde has been exceptional for the Blaugrana, Hansi Flick wants two top-notch options for every position. So, Alphonso Davies has emerged as a top target for Barcelona.

However, stiff competition and progressing contract talks with Bayern Munich mean Davies might not be a viable target for Barcelona. So, several alternatives, including Tyrick Mitchell, have emerged on the Catalan club’s radar, with Bueno also an option worth considering.

Caio Henrique and Alvaro Carreras Fernandez are other options on Barcelona’s radar, with the Blaugrana compiling the shortlist of candidates to bolster the left-back unit. It will be interesting to see who becomes the top target for Barcelona next year.
