Atletico Madrid are exploring a loan move for Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, with Arsenal and Chelsea showing no interest.
Marcus Rashford’s future at Manchester United has been uncertain for a while now. Arenal and Chelsea are two Premier League clubs that have been linked with him. But, according to a report from Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, neither of them are interested in his services.
Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid have emerged as a potential destination for the English winger as they are considering signing him on a temporary basis.
Rashford broke into the Manchester United first team back in 2016. He looked destined for greatness and was at the peak of his powers during the 2022/23 seasons. But, things have only gone downhill for him in the last few seasons.
The Englishman is no longer a regular starter under Ruben Amorim, and the Portuguese manager recently left him out of his squad for the Manchester derby. While the former Sporting CP boss suggested that Rashford is still an important part of his plans, the 27-year-old has talked about being ready for a new challenge.
Manchester United are open to a potential departure as it will provide a massive financial boost to them. They will receive a significant fee in case of a permanent move, and it will be a big relief for their wage bill as he is amongst the highest paid players at the club.
Both Amorim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe are open to sanctioning Rashford’s departure as they look for a cultural shirt at Old Trafford. The English attacker’s off-field behaviour has been a concern and an exit could benefit both parties.
Arsenal and Chelsea are not keen on Marcus Rashford
While Arsenal and Chelsea have both been linked with the English international, neither are really interested in signing him. The Gunners do need a new left winger, and they can afford to sign Rashford but they are not considered an ideal fit for them.
Meanwhile, the Blues are well covered on the flanks, and the Manchester United winger does fit into their plans that focus on signing the best young stars. A move abroad looks like the only possible outcome.
A loan move to La Liga?
The 27-year-old has already ruled out a move to the Saudi Pro League. The report suggests he is interested in playing in La Liga. With Barcelona and Real Madrid not keen on his signature, Simeone’s Atletico Madrid is the only club where he can fulfil his desire.
The Colchoneros are interested in signing him on loan. They seek more firepower in the final third of the pitch and the English forward could be a great addition to their squad. But, it won’t be that straightforward as he is currently on lofty wages at Old Trafford.
