Chelsea working on plan to fix Deivid Washington situation

Chelsea could sanction the loan departure of talented youngster Deivid Washington amid concerns about his value.

According to an update by reputed Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola, Flamengo are keen on signing Deivid Washington, and he could head out on a loan move. Chelsea view his signing as an unprofitable one, and they are looking to fix the situation.

The 19-year-old is reportedly on the radar of Brazilian club Santos as well. Both parties have held talks with Chelsea regarding a potential move, and it remains to be seen whether they can secure a loan agreement for the player.

“I need to update you on the search at Flamengo for a number 9 to a new target,” Nicola said on YouTube before adding, “Deivid Washington, only 19 years old, revealed athlete at Santos and sold in the middle of last year to Chelsea, operation of €15m. Washington is a very good player and has been prepared by Chelsea to be successful in the main team.

“I’m still waiting for a confirmation from a person from Chelsea to know if the English club agrees to negotiate with him. What I had heard the last time I asked about David Washington is that he was unprofitable. Even because Chelsea bets too much on this player, unlike other athletes who have also been hired and negotiated.

“Just to add in relation to Flamengo and the search for a 9. With the departure of Gabigol, the fact that Carlinho has not been able to convince, and Pedro maybe just come back in the second half, it is natural that Flamengo thinks of a first-level 9 and David Washington meets expectations.”

Deivid Washington is highly rated in South America, and he has a bright future ahead of himself. He needs to play regularly to continue his development and an exit would be ideal for him. He needs to play more often, and the likes of Santos and Flamengo will be able to provide him with the platform. The youngster could return to Chelsea as a better player in the future.

The 19-year-old is currently a part of the under-23 set-up at Chelsea, and he needs to compete at a higher level. The striker will want to prove himself in English football and it remains to be seen how the situation develops. He was regarded as an elite prospect when Chelsea signed him, but the player has not had ample opportunities to showcase his talents. Chelsea tried to sell the player in the summer as well.

The youngster needs opportunities at a competitive level to grow, and moving to Santos or Flamengo would be ideal. A return to his homeland could help him regain his confidence and sharpness with regular football. Returning to familiar surroundings will give him a major morale boost as well. It remains to be seen how the situation develops.
