Tottenham rival Arsenal in Bazoumana Toure chase

Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly compete with Arsenal to sign 18-year-old Ivorian attacking sensation Bazoumana Toure from Hammarby IF.

According to an update by reputed German journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bazoumana Toure is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The Hammarby IF attacking sensation is also a target for Arsenal, with Bundesliga clubs Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig, and VfL Wolfsburg also keen on signing the 18-year-old prodigy from the Swedish club.

The rapid rise of Hammarby IF

Bazoumana Toure is the latest highly-rated African prospect to rise in prominence. While the national sides have some way to go before dominating international football, several young prodigies have seen their stocks soar in the last few years.

The 18-year-old winger spent most of his formative years in his homeland before joining Hammarby IF in March 2024. The Ivorian attacking sensation has enjoyed an excellent 2024 season, amassing nine goals and four assists in 23 Allsvenskan appearances.

Meanwhile, Toure’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. Premier League bigwigs and mid-table clubs, in particular, are keen on taking the Ivory Coast youth international to England. Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are among his prospective suitors.

London calling?

Arsenal’s interest in Bazoumana Toure is understandable. Mikel Arteta wants the North London club to sign a winger who can share the workload with Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka. The Spanish tactician has been unable to rotate the two first-choice wingers unless Leandro Trossard plays on the flanks. So, Toure is a viable long-term target for Arsenal.

As for Tottenham Hotspur, Richarlison faces an uncertain future at the North London club after struggling to make his mark since arriving from Everton. In addition, Son Heung-min’s future at the Tottenham Hotspur is up in the air amid his precarious contract situation. So, Toure is an option worth considering for the Premier League outfit.

However, Arsenal and Tottenham face stiff competition from many well-known Bundesliga clubs for Toure’s services. Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig, and VfL Wolfsburg are also interested in the 18-year-old Ivory Coast youth international. So, it will be interesting to see where he lands next year if he leaves Hammarby IF.
