Napoli make enquiry for Chelsea defender Axel Disasi

Napoli make an enquiry for Chelsea defender Axel Disasi ahead of the January window, as Antonio Conte is keen to take him on loan.

According to Area Napoli, Napoli are eager to bring Axel Disasi on loan during the January window. The Serie A leaders have made an enquiry for the defender, with Antonio Conte particularly interested as he was during his Tottenham days.

Napoli have found themselves leading a pack of six clubs in the thick of a tremendous Serie A title race. Antonio Conte’s men sit a point ahead of four other sides, with Juventus also in the mix. These clubs will all be vying to mount a title challenge, and each of those could strengthen their cause using the transfer window in January.

Conte has reportedly mentioned the need to bring in an attacker, but more importantly, a defender to shore up the backline. Tottenham’s Radu Dragusin remains a difficult target for Napoli, and now they are ready to pivot their chase to Chelsea’s Axel Disasi.

Napoli have made an enquiry overtaking the 26-year-old Chelsea defender on loan in January, as the deal might potentially come with a buy option of sorts. Disasi’s versatile qualities are a big reason why Conte would reportedly want him, which will certainly strengthen his Napoli defence.

Napoli are ready to make him an important part of their first-team plans, something he’s been deprived of at Chelsea this season. Much will depend on Chelsea’s stance, as they were open to a sale a while back but could see the Frenchman’s presence as essential to their squad depth.

Will Chelsea let Axel Disasi leave?

Chelsea have had a very balanced season in all competitions so far, although they did suffer elimination in the League Cup. They have fared decently in the Premier League while making headlines in the Conference League, as Disasi has been predominantly used as a squad player and as a starter in those cup competitions.

Enzo Maresca has designed his squad in a way that Disasi continues to see less game time in the Premier League but remains a regular starter in the cup competitions. Hence, they will make a late decision ahead of the January window about the 26-year-old’s availability, as clubs like Napoli will come into the equation to sign him.
