Monchi is reportedly working to bring 23-year-old French-born Cameroonian defender Enzo Boyomo to Aston Villa from La Liga club CA Osasuna.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Enzo Boyomo is the subject of interest from Aston Villa. Monchi is driving the West Midlands club’s move for the 23-year-old defender, and he will look to sign him from La Liga outfit CA Osasuna in the 2025 summer transfer window.
Who is Enzo Boyomo?
Enzo Boyomo is already a well-travelled footballer despite being in the early stages of his professional career. A native of Toulouse, he spent most of his formative years in his homeland but graduated from the youth division at Blackburn Rovers nearly half a decade ago.
The 23-year-old moved to Spain in August 2020 by joining Albacete but has risen in prominence during his spell with CA Osasuna. Boyomo has hit the ground running since joining the Pamplona-based club from Real Valladolid in the summer transfer window, turning out 13 times thus far in La Liga while chipping in with one goal.
Meanwhile, Boyomo’s progress in his short spell thus far with CA Osasuna has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. Aston Villa will look to sign the defender from Los Rojillos, with Monchi keen on taking the young centre-back to Villa Park.
Premier League move on the horizon?
Aston Villa’s interest in Enzo Boyomo is understandable. The Villans are keen on reinforcing their backline next year amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term future of Diego Carlos. Unai Emery has already given the green light to Aston Villa, and they will likely part ways with the Brazilian defender next year.
Meanwhile, several centre-backs, including Diego Llorente, have emerged on Aston Villa’s radar. Another La Liga-based defender is a target for the West Midlands club, with Monchi keen on signing Boyomo from CA Osasuna in the 2025 summer transfer window.
The report does not mention how much CA Osasuna will demand to part ways with the French-born centre-back next year. However, considering Boyomo’s contract situation and age profile, Aston Villa might need to pay a premium to sign the 23-year-old centre-back in the 2025 summer transfer window.
