Chelsea will reportedly look to sign 25-year-old Cameroonian international Bryan Mbeumo from fellow Premier League club Brentford in a deal worth €60 million.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Bryan Mbeumo is the subject of interest from Chelsea. The Blues will continue reinforcing their offensive department in the two transfer windows next year, with the Brentford attacker emerging as a target. They will submit a bid worth €60 million to beat the competition to the signature of the Cameroonian international.
Bryan Mbeumo and his career so far
Bryan Mbeumo has been a revelation since joining Brentford from ESTAC Troyes in August 2019. The player was instrumental in taking the West London club to the top flight for the first time in the Premier League era, and he has been pivotal in keeping them in the first division in the last few seasons.
Mbeumo’s importance has grown since the start of the 2023/24 season, and he has embraced the added responsibility. The 25-year-old has continued going from strength to strength in the new campaign, amassing eight goals and one assist in 11 Premier League appearances thus far this term.
Meanwhile, the former French youth international represents Cameroon in international football, making 18 appearances for the African nation. The Brentford attacker’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several Premier League bigwigs, including Chelsea.
Move across London on the cards?
Chelsea’s interest in Bryan Mbeumo is understandable. The Blues are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit in the two transfer windows next year, even though Enzo Maresca has a stacked attacking department. However, Mykhailo Mudryk faces an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge amid his recent links with Crystal Palace, while the jury is still out on Jadon Sancho.
So, Chelsea should invest in a versatile attacker, making Mbeumo a viable target. The French-born forward can cover every position in the offensive quartet, and the West London club will look to beat the competition by signing the Brentford attacker in a deal worth €60 million.
Considering Mbeumo’s contract with Brentford will run out in a little over 18 months, a bid worth around €60 million might tempt the Premier League club. However, other candidates, including Viktor Gyokeres, are also on Chelsea’s radar, and it will be interesting to see who bolsters the club’s attack next year.
