Manchester City have struggled in recent weeks, losing four matches in a row across all competitions, but Sergio Aguero has backed them for success.
This is the first time a Pep Guardiola-coached team has lost four matches in a row, but former star Sergio Aguero has backed them to succeed, regardless of their torrid run. The former Argentine international believes that Manchester City will win four trophies this season and he is expecting them to bounce back strongly.
The Argentine said via Give Me Sport, “I think City are favourites to win everything, including the league, the [FA] Cup, the (FIFA) Club World Cup, and the Champions [League]. Whatever City has to play for, they’ll be the firm favourites, but I think it all depends on the mentality they have because it’s not easy to always be the favourites. I think City are where they are because Guardiola knows very well how to keep that mentality. For me, he’s the key man for the club, so that the players have the same winning mentality.
“Sometimes it gets difficult to win, of course, and it’s normal, but Pep’s team has been up there since he took charge, and that’s something many people don’t see, and I think we have to acknowledge he is the reason his players have a winning mentality. He’s strict and he makes the team be consistent every single game throughout the season.”
City could bounce back strongly
There is no doubt that Manchester City have a phenomenal squad, and they have world-class players at their disposal who have battled adversities in the past and bounced back strongly. They are a seasoned team with plenty of experience when it comes to winning major trophies. It will not be surprising if they bounce back strongly in the coming weeks and reclaim their place at the top of English football.
It will be interesting to see if they can get their stuttering campaign back on track after the international break. Meanwhile, several pundits have backed the reigning champions to win the Premier League title. City managed to win the league title last season, and they will be desperate to defend their crown.
Manchester City will look to do well in the Champions League as well. Despite the injury blow to Rodri, they have plenty of depth in the squad, and they will be able to improve the team in January as well. It remains to be seen whether they decide to bring in quality players midway through the season. Either way, they have all the tools to get back to their best, and it remains to be seen how the season unfolds.
