La Liga champions Real Madrid reportedly view 21-year-old RB Leipzig centre-back Castello Lukeba as their top target for the 2025 summer transfer window.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Castello Lukeba is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The reigning La Liga champions are keen on addressing the shortcomings of their squad in the 2025 summer transfer window. So, the 21-year-old RB Leipzig centre-back has emerged as Los Blancos’ top defensive target.
Castello Lukeba and his spell at RB Leipzig
Castello Lukeba has established himself as one of the best young prospects in the Bundesliga since joining RB Leipzig from Lyon in August 2023. The Frenchman left his homeland as a promising centre-back and has gone a long way to fulfil his tremendous potential at the Red Bull Arena.
The 21-year-old has been a mainstay at the back for RB Leipzig for a while, with his stock soaring in the first few weeks of the 2024/25 season. Lukeba has turned out over 50 times thus far for the Bundesliga outfit while chipping in with one goal.
Meanwhile, Lukeba’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. Recent reports have linked the French centre-back with many Premier League bigwigs. However, the youngster’s next destination might be Real Madrid, with Los Blancos identifying him as the top defensive target for the 2025 summer transfer window.
La Liga move on the horizon?
Real Madrid’s interest in Castello Lukeba is understandable. The reigning La Liga champions are scouring the market for a highly-rated centre-back heading into the 2025 summer transfer window. So, several candidates have emerged on Real Madrid’s radar, with Lukeba also a viable target.
However, prising the Frenchman away from RB Leipzig will not be straightforward, with the Bundesliga club keen on keeping hold of him for the long haul. In addition, Lukeba will not come cheap, with Die Roten Bullen demanding around €70 million to part ways with him next year.
Furthermore, Real Madrid will face stiff competition from many European powerhouses in the race to secure Lukeba’s services. So, it will be interesting to see if the reigning La Liga champions land the 21-year-old French defender next year after prioritising him as their defensive target.
