Chelsea are ready to cash in on unwanted defender Benoit Badiashile in January, as they are already looking for a replacement.
According to Fichajes, Benoit Badiashile is up for sale ahead of the January window as Chelsea are ready to cash in on the Frenchman. He could have a considerable market, although the chances for recouping anywhere close to the €38 million paid a year ago seems unlikely.
Chelsea are headed in a new direction under Enzo Maresca, who made some vital decisions to keep key players out of the playing squad during the summer. The Italian manager discarded Raheem Sterling, Ben Chilwell, and Trevoh Chalobah from his playing squad and could make more decisions ahead of the January window.
Maresca is still learning which players are capable of staying for the long run, as Benoit Badiashile could be the next to leave. The 23-year-old defender was considered part of his plans earlier in the season, but so far, he has seen a diminished role in the squad.
The 23-year-old defender, a €38 million signing from Monaco a year ago, has fallen down in the pecking order, with Wesley Fofana, Levi Colwill, and Tosin Adarabioyo ahead of him. Maresca also tends to give former Monaco teammate Axel Disasi more game time because of his versatile qualities, whereas Badiashile may have to find another club as soon as January.
Chelsea could sell him for less than the €38 million they paid, with some clubs already showing an interest in the 23-year-old defender. Inter Milan are reportedly keen to add him as Alessandro Bastoni’s deputy, with both stars having a similar playing profile. Others, like Juventus, might also consider a move if the price is right, as they, too, seek a cover for the injured Gleison Bremer.
Chelsea will sign a Badiashile replacement
Should Chelsea succeed in selling Badiashile, it might not waste time finding a replacement. There are some audacious links to Manchester City’s Ruben Dias, although such a move will have to wait until the summer.
Nottingham Forest’s Murillo is another target, although the Premier League side are unlikely to entertain any offers for him in January. Chelsea have also set sights on Isak Hien of Atalanta, a defender they might have a stronger chance of signing, although any movement will depend on the Badiashile sale.
