Chelsea set sights on Isak Hien

Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea are reportedly considering making a move for Atalanta defensive mainstay Isak Hien in 2025.

According to a report from Fichajes, Chelsea are looking to reinforce their backline, and they are interested in the services of Isak Hien. The Swedish centre-back has established himself as an integral part of the Atalanta setup, and his exceptional rise has resulted in a significant amount of interest.

Hien made a name for himself in Italy while playing for Hellas Verona. His consistent performances helped him secure a move across Serie A to Atalanta at the start of the year, and he has not looked back since.

In around ten months time, the 25-year-old centre-back has established himself as one of the mainstays in the Serie A club’s first team. He has racked up a total of 35 appearances and has looked really solid at the back.

He has featured in nine matches in the new campaign and has been at the top of his game. Hien’s ability to anticipate plays and intercept the ball, his strength in aerial duels, and his ability to bring play out from the back have earned him a lot of praise and he finds himself on the wishlist of multiple top clubs.

Chelsea to reinforce their backline with Hien?

Chelsea are one of the clubs that are interested in signing the Swedish international, who has proven himself in the Italian top flight and the UEFA Champions League. While the Blues do not lack options at the back, they seek more quality and believe Hien could be a great acquisition for the short as well as the long run.

The 25-year-old centre-back’s contract at the Serie A club runs until the summer of 2028, but the Blues could look to sign him in 2025. While he is a key figure for Atalanta, they could look to make a significant profit by offloading him in the near future.

The Serie A outfit had invested €8 million to bring him to the club at the start of 2024. His value has already sky-rocketed to around €25 million, which could result in some serious financial gain for the Serie A outfit in the short-term. While it requires a significant financial effort to sign him, Chelsea won’t have a problem forking out that kind of fee.
