AC Milan are not in the running for Jonathan David, which could open the door ajar for the likes of some big Premier League sides.
According to TBR, AC Milan are no longer in the race to sign Jonathan David. The Canadian is a highly coveted striker available on the cheap in January or on a free transfer in the summer, and the Rossoneri’s departure from the hunt opens up a significant opportunity for some top Premier League teams.
LOSC Lille managed an unbelievable feat in the Champions League by beating both Madrid giants in back-to-back games. In both those wins, Jonathan David put in match-winning performances, which has not put him back on the big map of coveted strikers ahead of future windows.
The Canadian striker has reported that LOSC Lille informed them of his intention to leave once his contract expires next summer. Hence, the French side are open to reluctantly selling the 24-year-old Ligue 1 star, meaning there could be a scramble for his signature in the next window in January.
However, he is likely to leave in the summer, as David is believed to have far better offers then than in January. Some of the big clubs from England and Spain are keen, while others in Italy are also keen to bring him on board, considering the attractiveness of signing a top striker on the free.
Tottenham are also in the mix, while Arsenal, Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Chelsea are also keen to sign the Canadian. The chances for those Premier League sides might have exponentially increased as per the report, which claims that one of the front runners, AC Milan, has bowed out of the race.

Paulo Fonseca does not have an established attack in the early parts of the season, but Milan does have many players who can come in to do the job. The Rossoneri were among those linked with David ahead of the January window, although they are not going to make a move for the 24-year-old Ligue 1 star in the winter market.
Instead, Fonseca will rely on his existing options to provide the solution despite having a few issues with injuries and form. Milan are in a healthy position in the league despite a slow start to life, and they also opened their account in the Champions League with a big win over Club Brugge this week.
