Barcelona, PSG rival Liverpool in Khvicha Kvaratskhelia chase

Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain will reportedly compete with Liverpool for the signature of 23-year-old Napoli attacker Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is the subject of interest from Liverpool. In addition, the Napoli forward is a target for Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain for the 2025 summer transfer window. Meanwhile, the Reds have other candidates on their wishlist ahead of the 23-year-old attacker.

The rise and rise of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has established himself as one of the best attackers in Serie A since joining Napoli from Dinamo Tbilisi in July 2022. The youngster did not take long to establish a foothold in the first-team squad at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium and played his part as Napoli won the Scudetto in his debut season.

However, the 23-year-old endured a dip in performance levels last season, although he has improved this term. Kvaratskhelia has chipped in with four goals and two assists in ten outings across all competitions thus far in the 2024/25 campaign. Meanwhile, the player’s stock in the market remains high, with Barcelona, Liverpool, and Paris Saint-Germain among his prospective suitors.

A man in demand

Barcelona mulled over signing Kvaratskhelia in the summer transfer window before the move failed to see the light of day. The continued interest in the Georgian international makes sense, considering Ferran Torres faces an uncertain future at the club. In addition, Kvaratskhelia can co-exist with Raphinha and Lamine Yamal, considering the former can reprise the no. 10 role.

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s interest in Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is understandable. The Reds are scouring the market for a wide attacker amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term future of Mohamed Salah. However, the Napoli forward is not Liverpool’s top target, with Karim Adeyemi and Leroy Sane higher on the wishlist.

As for PSG, the reigning La Liga champions are keen on reinforcing their offensive department next year to fill the gaping hole left by the departure of Kylian Mbappe in the summer transfer window. So, the Napoli attacker has emerged as a viable target for PSG.

With Liverpool not viewing the 23-year-old Georgian international as a top target for next year, Barcelona and PSG have the opportunity to steal a march on the Merseyside club for his signature. However, it will be interesting to see if Barcelona can afford a deal to sign him from Napoli.
