Real Madrid eyeing Andrea Cambiaso swoop

La Liga champions Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing 24-year-old Italian wide player Andrea Cambiaso from Serie A club Juventus next year.

According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercato, Andrea Cambiaso is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. Aston Villa recently failed with a bid worth €35 million to sign the Juventus wide player. Meanwhile, the reigning La Liga champions view the 24-year-old as a possible long-term successor to Dani Carvajal.

Andrea Cambiaso and his Juventus journey

Andrea Cambiaso has established himself as one of the best players in Serie A since joining Juventus. A native of Genova, he spent his formative years in his hometown and graduated from the youth division at Genoa CFC a few years ago. However, he has risen in prominence during his spell with the Bianconeri.

Juventus signed Cambiaso in July 2022 but integrated him into the first-team squad a year later. The 24-year-old has not looked back since becoming a regular for the Serie A giants last season and has been a trusted lieutenant for Thiago Motta this term. The player has turned out 50 times thus far for the Bianconeri while chipping in with four goals and seven assists.

In addition, Cambiaso’s exploits for Juventus have helped him break into his national side and make 11 appearances. Meanwhile, the Italian wide player’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe, including Aston Villa and Real Madrid.

A man in demand

Aston Villa wanted to sign Andrea Cambiaso in the summer transfer window and offered €35 million to secure his services. However, the move did not see the light of day, with Thiago Motta not interested in sanctioning the player’s sale. Aston Villa can still do with a player like Cambiaso, who can be an upgrade on Matty Cash.

As for Real Madrid, Los Blancos briefly mulled over a summer move for Cambiaso. The continued interest in the Italian international makes sense, considering Dani Carvajal is recovering from a long-term knee injury. So, they will look to launch the offensive to sign the Juventus star next year.

It is unclear if Aston Villa will return with another bid to sign Cambiaso from Juventus next year. However, it will not be surprising to see Real Madrid launch the offensive to secure the services of the 24-year-old, especially if they fail to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold.
