Marseille are keen to test Chelsea’s resolve by making a move for unwanted star Mykhailo Mudryk, as Roberto De Zerbi is keen on a reunion.
According to Fichajes, Roberto De Zerbi wants a reunion with Mykhailo Mudryk and could urge his side, Marseille, to push for a January move for the winger. The Ukranainan is unwanted at Chelsea following Enzo Maresca’s choices not to use him much, which could see the winger push for a move in January.
Mykhailo Mudryk could be seen as a flop of sorts following his failure to live up to expectations following a big move in January 2023. The Ukranian forward has barely made an impact, which has drawn plenty of criticism given how much Chelse applauded him after competing with Arsenal for his signature.
Mudryk has barely featured in Enzo Maresca’s plans this season, which has raised fears the winger could quit when the window opens in January. To his credit, he still has plenty of years left in him to forge a career elsewhere, as leaving Stamford Bridge might be the only solution as of now.
There’s no shortage of suitors, as key clubs like Barcelona are looking at the idea of bringing him on board as soon as possible. Should the Catalans proceed with their plans, it would mostly be a loan in January, as they need someone on the left wing following their failure to sign Nico Williams in the summer.
Liverpool are also reportedly interested, and there are constant rumours that Arsenal and some other sides are keen. The growing interest shows that many continue to believe in his talent and could invest in bringing him on board, as Marseille are the latest in the equation.
Marseille keen on Mudryk
Roberto De Zerbi, now the head coach at Marseille, wants a reunion with Mudryk, a player he coached during his spell at Shakhtar Donetsk. He sees the possibility of bringing his former star back and helping revive his career, as the winger is performing well in France.
Now, the nature of their potential approach is unclear, as one could assume a loan move could be on the cards with the option to redeem at the end of the tenure. Chelsea might be open to the prospect of letting Mudryk leave if they get a deal on favourable terms.
