Manchester City set to sign John Edwin Montano, will be loaned to FC Lommel

Manchester City have agreed on a deal with Independiente Medellín to sign their attacking sensation John Edwin Montano.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Colombian attacking sensation John Edwin Montano is all set to join Manchester City. The City Football Group have agreed on a deal to sign the talented winger who will be loaned out to their Belgian club FC Lommel.

Edwin Montano has come up the ranks at Independiente Medellin and is currently a part of their Under-20 setup. He has had an impressive rise and has been a consistent performer for both club and country at the youth level.

The 2006-born winger had already made quite a name for himself and his performances had put him on the radar of multiple top clubs. While there was no shortage of interest in his services, the City Football Group have done well to strike a deal for him.

City have an exceptional scouting network and they are always on the lookout for young players who can help them in the long-run. Given the number of clubs they own, the Football Group hardly has a problem signing young talents and sending them to one of their clubs to continue their development.

They have been scouting Edwin Montano for a while now and have reportedly agreed on a deal worth $3 million (add-ons included) to acquire his services. They have also promised 20% of his future sales to the Colombian outfit.

With a deal in place, the player is now expected to soon travel to Manchester to undergo his medical as a new City player. Once he officially puts pen to paper, the teenager will then be sent out on loan to City group-owned FC Lommel which plays in the Belgian top flight.

While City have no shortage of talent in their squad, they keep looking for players who can ensure they maintain the level of success they have had in recent years. Montano surely has a lot of potential and if he continues developing at a similar pace, he could soon get a run in the Premier League club’s first team as well.
