Chelsea are interested in securing the services of Reda Belahyane and are closely monitoring the Moroccan defensive midfielder.
Chelsea’s transfer policy under the new ownership has been quite clear. The Blues want to sign the best young players in the world and build a team that dominates world football in the long run. While they already have some exceptional players in their squad, the search for more quality continues.
According to a report from Tuttomercatoweb, Chelsea are now interested in Hellas Verona midfield star Reda Belahyane and their scouts were present in the stands of Marcantonio Bentegodi Stadium to watch the young defensive midfielder in action ahead of a potential transfer.
Belahyane came up the ranks at Ligue 1 club OGC Nice. While he got promoted to their first team at the start of 2023, the 20-year-old did not have the best of times in the senior side and ended up making the move to Hellas Verona at the start of 2024.
Belahyane’s incredible rise at Hellas Verona
The move to Serie A has done wonders for the young Moroccan sensation. While he was restricted to the bench for the second half of last season, Belahyane has established himself as a regular in the first team at the start of the 2024/25 season. He has started all of their league games, and his consistent performances have attracted a lot of interest.
The 20-year-old, who idolises former Chelsea star N’Golo Kanté, is quickly gaining recognition for his ability to dispossess opponents and, at the same time, retain the ball and drive it forward. While his contract with the Italian outfit runs until the summer of 2028, clubs are gearing up to prise him away from Verona who could book a significant profit from his sale.
Chelsea are interested in Reda Belahyane
Chelsea are one of the clubs keen on signing the young defensive midfielder. While they already have Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo in their squad who were signed for millions, they seek more options and feel Belahyane could be a great acquisition for the long run. Recent reports have also linked Chelsea with other midfielders, including Frenkie de Jong.
The Premier League outfit’s scouts were in attendance at the Marcantonio Bentegodi Stadium to watch him in action against Venezia FC in Serie A on Saturday. It was yet another top-notch performance from the youngster and if he continues in a similar fashion, Chelsea could go ahead and push for his signature.
