Barcelona might launch the offensive to sign 24-year-old LOSC Lille striker Jonathan David in a Bosman move in the 2025 summer transfer window.
According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Jonathan David is the subject of interest from FC Barcelona. The Catalan giants are scouring the market for a striker ahead of the 2025 summer transfer window amid the advancing years of Robert Lewandowski. The LOSC Lille forward has thus emerged as a target due to his impending free-agent status.

Jonathan David has been one of the best players in Ligue 1 since joining LOSC Lille from KAA Gent in a deal worth €25 million in August 2020. While the Canadian international has been prone to bouts of inconsistency, he has been instrumental to Les Dogues’ success in the last four years.
The 24-year-old was one of the most prolific strikers in the world last season and has started the new campaign on a high. David has contributed to nine goals in 11 games in all competitions thus far this term by finding the back of the net seven times and providing two assists.
However, David will leave LOSC Lille as a free agent next summer after his contract expires on June 30, thus ending a fruitful spell with the Ligue 1 outfit. The striker’s situation has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. Barcelona might also be one of his prospective suitors in the 2025 summer transfer window.

Barcelona’s interest in Jonathan David is understandable. The Catalan giants are scouring the market for a young striker who can take over from Robert Lewandowski when the veteran centre-forward starts experiencing a decline. With the Polish international on the wrong side of 30, Barcelona must plan for life after him.
