Alisson Becker uninterested in Saudi Pro League move, Liverpool exit possible

Alisson Becker does not want to move to the Saudi Pro League amid his links with Bayern Munich, although he might leave Liverpool next year.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Alisson Becker is the subject of interest from Bayern Munich. The Saudi Pro League bigwigs are also keen on signing the Liverpool mainstay. However, he does not want to move to the Middle East, although he is increasingly frustrated at Anfield after the Merseyside club’s decision to sign Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia.

The rise and rise of Alisson Becker

Alisson Becker has been arguably the best goalkeeper in the world for nearly half a decade. The South American shot-stopper met some scepticism when he joined Liverpool from AS Roma in a big-money move in July 2018. However, he has made his mark since moving to Anfield a half-dozen years ago.

The 31-year-old has turned out over 250 times thus far for Liverpool while keeping 117 clean sheets and conceding 239 goals. In addition, Alisson’s exploits for the Merseyside club have helped him become the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper for his national team.

However, the Brazilian international is increasingly frustrated at Anfield after Liverpool secured the agreement to sign Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia. That frustration might force the experienced goalkeeper to leave Liverpool and seek a new adventure in the 2025 summer transfer window, with Bayern Munich and the Saudi Pro League being his prospective suitors.

A man in demand

Bayern Munich’s interest in Alisson Becker is understandable. Vincent Kompany wants the Bavarian giants to dip their toes in the market for a replacement for Manuel Neuer, who has entered the twilight of his career. So, the Liverpool mainstay has emerged as a viable target for Bayern Munich.

As for the Saudi Pro League, they have made several high-profile signings in the last 18 months, with Cristiano Ronaldo opening the floodgates. So, it is hardly surprising that the Liverpool star has emerged as a target for the big-spending clubs, although they failed with a summer move.

Alisson’s stance on moving to the Saudi Pro League has not changed, as he wants to remain as the first-choice goalkeeper for Brazil. So, it will be interesting to see if Bayern Munich can win the race to secure the services of the 31-year-old Brazilian international.
