Barcelona will reportedly look to sign 27-year-old Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez from Serie A club Inter Milan in the 2025 summer transfer window.
According to a report by Italian outlet Inter Live, Lautaro Martinez is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The Catalan giants are scouring the market for a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski. The Inter Milan captain has thus emerged as the priority target to take over from the veteran Polish striker in the 2025 summer transfer window.
The rise and rise of Lautaro Martinez
Lautaro Martinez has been one of the best players in Serie A since joining Inter Milan from Racing Club in July 2018. While the South American attacker took some time to become a productive striker for the Nerazzurri, he has not looked back since becoming the undisputed first-choice centre-forward for the Italian outfit.
The 27-year-old has turned out nearly 300 times thus far for Inter Milan while chipping in with 129 goals and 44 assists. Martinez has been the Serie A outfit’s captain since the start of the 2023/24 season, taking over the armband from Samir Handanovic nearly 12 months ago.
While the Argentine international has yet to find the back of the net in the early days of the 2024/25 season, his stock in the market remains high. Recent reports have linked Martinez with Chelsea, with Barcelona also among his prospective suitors ahead of the 2025 summer transfer window.

Lautaro Martinez has been on Barcelona’s radar for a long time, with the Blaugrana attempting to sign him in 2020. While the move did not see the light of day, the Catalan giants have not taken their eyes off the Inter Milan captain. The continued interest makes sense, considering Robert Lewandowski is approaching the twilight of his career.
The veteran Polish striker is well into his thirties, making it necessary for Barcelona to scour the market for a top-class striker. Martinez has thus emerged as the priority target to take over from Lewandowski in the 2025 summer transfer window.
