Liverpool line up 2025 summer move for Takefusa Kubo

Arne Slot’s Liverpool are reportedly plotting a 2025 summer move for Real Sociedad’s attacking sensation Takefusa Kubo.

According to a report from Fichajes, Liverpool are keen on acquiring the services of Takefusa Kubo as they want to reinforce their attack for the long run. The Reds could return for his services next summer as they have been monitoring the Real Sociedad star for months. The youngster has a €60 million release clause in his contract.

Kubo came into the limelight while playing for FC Tokyo. His exceptional rise resulted in interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid, who signed him in the summer of 2019. Unfortunately, the stint with Los Blancos did not work out for the youngster.

After spending a significant amount of time out on loan, he finally parted ways with Real Madrid in the summer of 2022 to join Real Sociedad. The 23-year-old right-winger has only gone from strength to strength since making the move.

He has featured in 89 matches for Real Sociedad and has contributed towards 31 goals (17 goals, 14 assists). The Japanese international’s performances in the final third of the pitch and his huge potential have resulted in a significant amount of interest in his services.

Liverpool are among the clubs that have been monitoring Kubo for a long while. The Reds want more firepower up top and they feel the former Real Madrid winger could be an ideal fit for them. With Mohamed Salah’s future at the club uncertain, he could be an ideal long-term replacement.

Liverpool will return next summer for Kubo

The Merseyside club were keen on signing him this summer. Multiple reports linked them with the young Japanese winger. While they might not have succeeded in striking a deal in the recently concluded window, the Reds have not given up and they will return for his signature next summer.

Takefusa Kubo still has almost five years left on his deal with Real Sociedad, and they will try their best to keep hold of the 23-year-old who is believed to be protected by a high release clause of €60 million.

While the price is a touch on the higher side, it does not seem to be a problem for Liverpool. They are all set to make a definitive attempt to sign the Japanese winger next summer, and it could be a turning point in Kubo’s career.
